2025 KECSF Award Ceremony
On November 16, 2024, the San Francisco Korean Education Center hosted the awards ceremony for the Hangeul Art & UCC(User Created Contents) Contest. Hansamo is passionate about Hangeul, so we can’t help joining the celebration with an exciting Nanta performance. This was the first performance for new members who recently joined the Nanta team, stepping in for five graduating students. To prepare for their debut, they practiced tirelessly, ensuring their movements and drum beats were perfectly in sync. Though they started with nervous excitement, by the time they finished, they were filled with joy and pride.
Every year, in honor of Hangeul Day on October 9, the San Francisco Korean Education Center holds an art and UCC contest incorporating Hangeul. Additionally, the UCC Contest aims to raise awareness of Korea in the U.S. and create opportunities for Korean to be introduced as a second language in public schools. The Korean Education Center hopes that through these competitions, students from elementary school to college will develop an interest in Hangeul, Korean history, and culture, and learn about Korea while creating videos that promote it.
This year, students from Dougherty Valley High School, including Nanta team member Junpyo Park, won the Gold Prize in the UCC Contest. For Junpyo, it was an especially meaningful day—he not only had the honor of representing Hansamo in the Nanta performance but also shared the joy of winning an award with his friends.
Hansamo President Younsu Oh and Vice President So Young Kim attended the event, expressing our gratitude to newly appointed Director Hye Jung Heo of the KECSF and Consul General of the Republic of Korea in San Francisco Jung-taek Lim for their dedication to supporting Korean American students. Although these efforts may go unnoticed by many, there are countless individuals and organizations working to promote the Korean language and culture in the U.S. It was a joyful event where people came together to celebrate their shared love for Korea.
