The Taepyeongso is said to have originated in the Goryeo Dynasty as a two-pronged musical instrument. It was first played as a nongak, and later, it was composed of wind and percussion instruments, and was used in the march of kings or nobles and military marches.
Pangut is a term that implicitly expresses the frame and meaning of Korean traditional culture. Pan means stage, and -gut is a representation of a ritual to call the gods. When Pan and Gul meet, rhythmic dancing and the sounds made naturally harmonize. The stage also turns into an exciting playground where the gold leaf audience and the cast become one. In the end, the best performances are almost always determined by how enjoyable the audience is. Please give your support and applause to the Pungmul team that will perform “oottdali”
Seouljanggu is a traditional Korean instrument that consists of two sided drums in a hour-glass shape. The drum is the symbol of balance and the rhythm is similar to Pangut. It requires a lot of energy, as the drummers have to move and dance the whole time.
