Aparna Madireddi
I am of Greek-Indian origin, and was born and raised in India. I came to the United States 26 years back, and have been a San Ramon resident for the past 21 years. One of my biggest passions is to keep ensuring that all community members feel involved and connected through cultural events, resources, and group associations. I started off an as Interact Club member, and a Girl Guide, at 13. Over the years, I have been involved in many community events and projects, and have supported causes like domestic violence, teen stress and anxiety, and senior health and wellness. I serve on several boards and committees for the city of San Ramon, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, and non-profit organizations. My parents have been instrumental in shaping my personality and outlook towards life. My dad, who retired from the Indian Army after 32 years of service and now lives thousands of miles away from me, and my mom, a school-teacher who passed away in 2012, talked about doing the right thing, at the right time, without being asked. Being involved in any form of community service from a very young age, has been my way of respecting their wishes.
