2025 Hayward Library Lunar New Year Show
Hansamo delivered a captivating performance showcasing the beauty of Korean traditional arts at the Hayward Public Library's Lunar New Year celebration on January 25th. The library was filled with an enthusiastic audience, especially children excited to celebrate the Lunar New Year, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
Hansamo's Nanta team kicked off the event with a powerful drum performance, instantly captivating the audience. Following an energetic lion dance by a Chinese community group and a dynamic Kung Fu demonstration by young performers, Hansamo's Samgomu dancers graced the stage in an elegant Hanbok. Their graceful movements, synchronized with the gradually intensifying rhythms, beautifully conveyed the essence of Korean aesthetics.
The highlight of the show was Hansamo's dynamic Pungmul performance. Before the performance, several members of the Pungmul team introduced the symbolic meanings of the instruments: kkwaenggari (small gong), jing (large gong), janggu (double-headed drum), buk (barrel drum), and taepyeongso (double-reed pipe). Despite the small stage, the Pungmul team filled the venue with vibrant energy, dynamic movements, and intricate choreography, creating a sense of grandeur. The captivating formations, especially the performers circling and interacting with one another, drew enthusiastic applause and cheers.
Through their performances, Hansamo shared Korean culture with the community and provided a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the Lunar New Year together.
