2021 National Day Reception & Hanbok Fashion Show
The 2021 National Day Reception and Hanbok Fashion Show, held on September 30, 2021, in San Francisco at the Gold Room in the Fairmont Hotel, was an event to celebrate National Foundation Day and the 25th anniversary of Hanbok Day. Hanbok is the traditional clothing worn in past centuries in Korea.
The evening began with the Hanbok fashion show, which included different traditional dresses. The clothing represented the various occupations and status levels of the people who wore these pieces of clothing. There were different styles of clothing for the ordinary people, the middle class, nobles, and the royal class. The ceremonial dress of nobles and royals, worn for special events and weddings, was modeled. Also shown was clothing that distinguished one's occupation, such as scholars, artists, or entertainers. The fashion show concluded with models wearing the hanbok's modern interpretation, which has made a significant impact in the fashion world today, including contemporary bridal apparel.
Next, the ceremony included the national anthem of Korea and the United States of America and remarks from the Consul General of Korea, Sangsoo Yoon. Finally, following special toasts, the evening culminated with a fine dinner.
